That's a good list of folks, but I'm a little peeved that they left Les Paul off. I'm not saying he should be at the top, but he's better than Townsend for sure. And I'm a HUGE Who fan so suck it, haterz. Also, this list doesn't specify a genre, it simply says 'best guitarist'. I remember we had a similar discussion here a few months ago, but it was for best 'rock guitarist'. I also happen to know that Ghosted should be on that list. And what about Nigel Tufnel???

Nigel should be right behind Van Halen and Ghosted should be somewhere between Baron Munchausen and Space Balls. IMHO

I read this quote somewhere else, but something along the lines of:

"Perhaps the biggest testament to Hendrix's style was that it took years for a single person to crack the code and that person was Stevie Ray Vaughan"

And Ru, don't make me come over there and comb your desert

My guitar buddies always say that and then point to some soulless sweeping arpeggio shit. More technical does not equal more better. Who were you thinking?

Also that lamp can play the fuck out of that guitar.

Would that qualify as Gypsy jazz?

Regardless of whose opinion it is who's best, it's good to share this stuff to expose or remind others. It got me listening to Bach and Brazilian guitar today.

Segovia...spent hours and hours amazed at his touch.

And for jazz...who can compare:

To hear is one thing but to see it...Django was a blurrrrrrrr.

Jimi's guitar work is unarguably amazing. I've always thought he was an incredible lyricist as well. 'Hey Joe' Is one of my favorites.
