I've heard tons of crap about UT3. What's good and what's bad about it? Also, What would you change about? In other words... How could Epic redeem themselves?

The vehicles are horrible. The scorp is too sensitive to drive. The hellbender is hard to drive and they took away the ability to charge the gun and hold it. The weapons seem to need a bit more charge up time as well. By the time the chaingun revs up, your dead.

The graphics, with some tweaking, look pretty good. DM is fun in UT3. VCTF is poop. The grapple system throws the rider every which a way. If this was the first UT I picked up, I might get used to it...difficult to go from ut2k4 tho.

Also, the editor has changed a great deal.

i agree with every thin you all have said. another bad thig is you cant carry the flag in a vehicle

Well lets play stewie griffin and make a compliment sandwich:

-If nothing else the game is beautiful. It even looks good and plays "ok" on my old GeForce 6600gt.

-I haven't been able to connect to more then a few select servers. "GAMESPY SUX"

-The disk makes a nice coaster.

instead of holding it, you just have to wait a few seconds until popping of another shot. a single shot at full charge is an instakill.

if you press forward, you hug right up against the vehicle and won't get slung around. plus, you can actually control your character's movement during the grapple. once you get it, you don't fall.

it's too bad that to be competitive you have to turn everything off. this has been the one instance that I think customization turned out to be a bad thing.

-no manta runs/ flag carrying in a vehicle
-vehicles are completely dead silent making it easier for pussy road kills from behind
-no weapon throw for fresh ammo... combined with there being no ammo for certain guns in some maps.. such as no avril ammo so if u need more u might as well kill urself
-no double dodge jump.. and the movement is ass overall... they say they wanted to make it like ut99 but u jump higher or about as high in a ut99 single jump than u do in a ut3 double jump.. if they were gonna make it like ut99 they shudda just got rid of double jump completely because single jumps go like 2 inches and are totally useless so double tapping ur jump button gets tedious and annoying and no there are no mutators to fix any issues cuz the game is such ass that nobody bothers to mod for it because and if they make a mod or mutater good luck getting servers to use it.
-i can jump higher & further in real life than u can in a ut3 double jump or dodge jump
-warfare is just a hyped ONS... but even more annoying than ONS was.. the stupid orb is just a gimmick that makes the thing even shittier...and why should u have to kill urself to destroy the orb that's retarded.. can't u just shoot it or something.. whata pizza chit
-the hellbender sniper is completely useless
-manta doesnt jump as high anymore
-nexis vehicles suck, most of all the vehicles suck, no camra zoom while in vehicles
-the hover board is just stupid and in no way a replacement for manta runs or flag carrying in non flying or hovering vehicles as far as fun goes. u got knocked off so easily which means ur dead a lot of the time.. might as well make it that u have 1 hp when ur on 1... they shudda just made the hover board that is a combat vehicle kinda like a manta yuh know... put sum lazers on it and stuff, maybe give it 150 hp or something... or why not be able to shoot ur regular weapons while on it like that hover board scene in the heman movie with ivan dragon, you know when they're shooting their guns while on hover boards... even biff and his gang were able to wield bats while they rode their boards.... but any sort of limitation u can think of to make the game shittier.. it has it

So I see a lot of negative comments and I have to completely agree with all of it. Another stupid aspect of the game is the feign death. How fucking stupid is it to add a fake death move in a game like Unreal Tournament. Might as well advertise campers and stupid gameplay. I also HATE the fact that they removed the double dodge jump. There is a mutator that fixed that and made it UT2004-like but everyone disregarded it and like someone else mentioned good luck getting any servers to use a mutator. The absolute and most horrible part of the game I'd have to say though is admin'ing a server. They strayed so far away from the original UTAdmin page (at first there wasn't even one and now you have to add some gay crap last I looked anyway to give you the ability to have an admin webpage that would go along with the server) and good luck figuring out the engine. They have sucked ass pushing this game. There are so few servers it's pathetic and why play it? I've met very FEW people that actually enjoyed the transition from UT2004 to UT3... I think when Midway took over Digital Extreme's part of the partnership they quit caring about making this for PC and started making it for consoles instead. Epic can go die in a whole now as far as I'm concerned. No one else mentioned either (I don't think) that they took away the Lightning Gun... They replaced the sniper rifle with a gay ass version of their new "improved" sniper rifle that is almost impossible to get a shot off with unless you are zoomed in. They basically made this game to attract new players (by making it TOTAL FUCKING NOOB friendly) and in the process pretty much shunned every loyal player they had. I want my $50 back for being an r-tard and buying it release day... Now you can get it cheaper than $30. It's a joke of a game and they know it. Hip Hip Hooray for fucking consoles... I found a game online called Combat Arms that is free that puts UT3 to shame... It's a lot like COD4 with a SOFII feel to it and smooth gameplay... been playing that the last couple days and have really enjoyed it. You guys should check it out...it's like a 500MB download and it's great. Check it out @ http://combatarms.nexon.net/. I just wanted to add something positive...even though it's not about gay-ass UT3 ;)!!!

The hellbender sniper is actually really powerful if you know how to use it. The downfall is that the bender is meant to be the counter-vehicle to the nemesis, which is a fucking joke to compare the two in terms of usefulness. You can get headshotted out of it pretty easily, too.

Again, it's sad that the graphics reduce your ability to be competitive. The scorpion's projectile is stupidly over powered against hovers and boarders.

Movement, weapon switch speed & weapon throw would make the game actually good. I'm not looking for another ut2k4, just the fun factor. As it is, it's a buggy-ass game that rewards poor aim and camping. GG

Not sure when you played it last Krazr, but Epic finally fixed webadmin and it works well. It's funny though that despite epic's retarded efforts to make the game a fortress. It's practically impossible to permaban players with keygens and dynamic ip's.

P.S. I too miss the LG. :*(

Because without all the visual garbage, you are able to easily discern your enemy from the map. In fact, most really good ut3 players actually picmip. (google it)

It really does suck. On one hand, I want to see a nice game. On the other, I wanna WIN! :cry: :cry:

I've always turned a lot of the graphical stuff off like weather - foliage etc. shadows...mainly to try to improve game speed - frame rate etc. I remember back when - a guy accused someone of cheating because he was "hiding" in some bushes and someone sniped him - he said there was no way anyone could see him. Well turn off foliage on some maps and that stuff disappears. Even if I had a kick ass system - I would probably turn off some things still. Most VCTF maps aren't too focused on "cute-sy" bushes and whatnot anyway. Most of us want flow to be priority over a pretty map although I'm not opposed to a map that looks nice. Put some tea cups on a coffee table in the middle of Binary space and that should be enough to brighten it up for those who like pretty things in maps.

i haven't really noticed any problems and i can see people fine and i run the game maxed out but i guess if i had a shitty PC i would be worried... but i also haven't played the game enough to notice such problems cause i cant stand playing the game more than 5 minutes at a time
