New Black Ops Patch: Stuttering and Friends Tab Fix

Post by badasp »

* Friends fix for join in progress and Friends tab in server browser.
* Performance improvement for dual and quad core.
* Improved connectivity with Black Ops Rcon tool.
This patch is only 8 MB in size but it seems to have eliminated the stuttering for me. I played a couple instant action matches and one online and not one stutter whatsoever. The optimization still isn't on the level of MW2 for sure, but that annoying stuttering seems to be gone.

I looked in the new INI and sure enough the values for CPU usage were changed; the ones they had in there were much lower than the values for the MW2 config. I guess that's what fixed the issue for me, although others on the steam forums have noticed the issue is still there for them.

Did the patch fix the stutter for you? Make sure you restart steam to apply the patch.

Is this forced out automatically via steam or do we need to do something?

Nevermind, guess it was forced as I'm now able to play online..Yeah!

Friends list is still broked for me. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Must be you, was able to see what games friends were in now and also a better return overall on servers, now being able to see the CTC server on my favorites list. Still some optimization to do but overall better.

Mine's still broken as well. We both have hard copies, wonder if that has anything to do with it?

Friends? I have no friends, I'm killing everyone. Just pull out your knife and go crazy at the start of rounds, team killing is so EASY...

I've noticed that unlike the main ranked list, you have to refresh the friends or favorites lists. Hitting F5 will refresh the lists. That's what I seemed to be doing wrong previously.

What's it doing? I was playing earlier with no issues.

Game runs pretty good until I get into a gun battle and then it just stutters like crazy. My comp is at the bottom end of the specs but I've got everything turned off and modded low so I would think I could at least play. I'll try again after the next patch they put out.

It seems that you need a quad core CPU for the game to run smoothly. Your 8800GTS should be fine, esp at that resolution.
I had a core2Duo and it played like you describe. I bought a new mobo and a i7Quad and now the game is much smoother. There still seem to be network issues, though, which should get fixed soon/eventually :(

Yeah, I've read posts where even some quad core crazy expensive machines are having issues too though. I'll just give it some time and see how it plays out.
