My opinion on it/them:

COD = jump in for some fast fragging fun, jump out...had fun...maybe with buddies...go to bed with smile from playing with buddies or maybe checking some porn out while waiting for a map to load.

BF = more involving due to vehicles etc. more learning curve(s) involved, more ways to die etc., larger scope, but a hell of a lot of fun (opinion) if that is what you feel like doing on that particular night... eagle and racer tend to log in to BF more than BC on their own...why? Cuz their weird :?

I like them both respectively and won't bash either unless in honest jest.

Most of the guys work here and want to chill when gaming - BF can be a little less "relaxing" than COD due to it not being a run and gun type game and also there are some flaws that need to be worked out imo and I'm the first to agree with that - COD titles tend to be better polished or at least get the kinks worked out in a reasonable amount of time etc.

Well said.

These overwhelmingly negative User reviews on metacritic could very well just be a massive cooperative troll job n they're missing out on a decent game and it's their loss... but THIS sure as hell is a mousetrap win

I think the team cohesion between the 2 games is different as well.

MW3 = In our case, your friends are the team. You're free to fuck with the other team as much as you want and have the feeling of being all in. Having 6 people in vent is one of the best hacks out there.

BF3 = You're in a 4 man squad trying to make your way through enormous maps, 1/16th of the total players. The feeling of scale and your small roll in the overall battle is palpable.

Kronx's reviews don't count. The last game he liked involved his mom's nipples.

I love it when people come to this forum which is dominated by PC gamers, and tell us they're playing a game on a console. Great job.

Love the slick interface and Steam integration. Navigating in the lobby is easy with no hiccups. Let's cut to the chase... Treyarch is Treyarch and Infinity Ward is likewise. They both bring their own flavor to the table, and are both enjoyable in their own right. MW3's maps are beautiful, well laid out, and give me an all day hard on. No servers mean increased lag. But in turn, we can more easily team up with the crew for some rampaging, Ghosted infested, piss on the other team, griefing  . I'm still testing out the weapons and perks for some solid builds. So far, I've had the best luck with this one:

Primary: SMG-PP90M1 rapid fire & red dot
Secondary: Launcher-Javelin

Lethal: Frag Grenade
Equipment: Concussion Grenade

Perk Tier 1: Extreme Conditioning
Perk Tier 2: Quick Draw
Perk Tier 3: Steady Aim

After playing for a few days, I have some problems with the game. The main one is that you don't see the names of opponents over their heads as easily anymore. I assume this is due to the new 'marksman' perk, which allows you to see your opponents name from farther off. IIRC, in previous games, you'd see it as soon as they came into direct view, no matter how far away they were.

Smoke looks crappy, but I turned on 'soften smoke edges' and it looks better.

I have not played it much, but I can say the voice chat is almost unbearable when playing on PS3. That, right there, makes this very unenjoyable for me. Other than that, I think MW3 is a graphical improvement of MW2. So far, they seem pretty identical... with improved graphics...

Likes:
- New game type: I forget what its called... team based, but you have to collect the dogtags to confirm kill. Its funny that you can hear the guy that you kill if he says anything after you kill him. Love it, it cracks me up.
- Maps - there seem to be a lot and the graphics are pretty amazing. waterfalls, darkness, characters, buildings, holes put in buildings from shooting... Very nice.
- Sniper. I miss the sniping look and feel of MW2. BO sniping kinda blew.

Dislikes:
- Equipment. I havent used them yet and not even really sure what they are... only been killed by them and jesus, they are gay.
- knifing. So gay! while im at it, why is knifing an instant kill in any game? I can understand if its from behind, but thats it.
- Voice chat. Mentioned above. It sucks.
- NOOBTUBE is back... and its as gay as ever.
- More gayness. Im sure I will find more.... again, Ive only played for about 2 hours.

Yah, the new gametypes are fun. Kill confirmed (the one with dogtags) and the one where you protect the flag carrier are cool.

For all the stuff that stayed the same, there does seem to be a lot of new content to go through.

I actually feel that the knifing, while still lame, is better than in MW2, as there is no Commando perk. Also, the noob tubes seem to have been nerfed quite a bit, as I don't seem to be getting killed by them constantly like I was in MW2.

I was killed by a throwing knife a couple nights ago, and I'd always thought that was lame. It seems pretty hard to actually kill someone with a knife tossed at them, and yet I have to empty a clip into someone to kill them. If I was wearing a ski jacket I think a throwing knife would bounce off of me. Just sayin'

The claymore is there, as is the bouncing betty, which can be tossed and its set. There were betties in COD5 (World at war), which were fun but setting them took a little too long.

I like the weapon perks, but I wish after a certain level you could stack at least two of them. Maybe that's the case, but I don't think so.

I like kill confirmed, but the protect the flag one seems to just generate a shit load of spam at the flag carrier. Not much skill, it seems.

Just like I promised, I got to try MW3 with my brother tonight. I only played for less than an hour, and we only did Kill Confirmed on XBox Live. Like the little trooper that he is, he had already unlocked a lot of the stuff I wanted to try, so I was able to put together a really nice class; SCAR-L with ACOG + shotgun, and a USP 45 with nothing on it. Frag, Stun, Sleight of Hand Pro, Quick Draw Pro, Steady Aim Pro; Specialist strike package with Assassin, Scavenger, and something else I can't remember.
I was glad to see faster weapon switch as Sleight of Hand's pro ability, because that was one of the likable things about BO's perks that MW2 didn't have.

The gameplay felt good. The feel of it was like a mix of MW2 and Black Ops, and I mean that in a good way; it wasn't entirely either one, but it felt reminiscent of both. I didn't have much time to survey the maps, but what I saw was good; good cover, good tactics, etc.

Kill Confirmed was a cool gametype; your run-of-the-mill killcount-oriented gametype, but often the need to collect dogtags made things very interesting. Sometimes you'd have to clear out an open area to reach one of your kill's tags, sometimes you'd kill enemies going for a teammate's tags, and what felt the best was reclaiming your own tags, especially if you got a kill or two while defending them.

Having weapon proficiencies in addition to attachments and camo is very cool, and that makes for a very balanced arsenal. The Strike Packages fixed the past two games' issue in which the individual's gameplay style decided who would get killstreak rewards regularly and who would never get them. The tweaks to the perks were very nice as well. As I predicted, matches are fun regardless of your score, which was a noteworthy rarity in MW2 and unheard of in Black Ops. Top that off with a sensibly low amount of knifing and not a noobtube in sight.

I didn't have time to get a real impression of leveling up and unlocking things, nor did I get to try the campaign or special ops. What I did get to try, I liked. The wide variety of weapons to choose from was cool, and the return of machine pistols is nice. The TMP didn't make a return and that's a bit disappointing as it was one of my favorites, but I did see a machine pistol with a different name that looked just like it, so I'm going to try that the next chance I get. I was glad to see that, unlike in MW2, the underbarrel shotgun was not useless in softcore gametypes.

Things that caught me by surprise:
-There are now other full-auto shotguns besides the AA12
-The Javelin is a low-level launcher
-The SMAW is now available
-One in the Chamber is back, but is for Private Matches only
-There seem to be some things in the Launchers category that don't resemble launchers at all

Things I still need to try:
-Machine pistols
-Other gametypes
-Launchers, especially those weird ones I mentioned
-Campaign
-Special Ops

Final thoughts: to me, it seems the COD series has been about taking a good multiplayer gameplay formula and tweaking it from game to game; basically trial-and-error game design. MW3 learned from the mistakes of MW2 and Black Ops, as well as learning from their high points, leading to a multiplayer arrangement that is the best so far in the series as far as I have played. Infinity Ward did very well with this.
It should be noted, though, that trial-and-error game design is the worst possible type of game design. A good development team should be able to figure out on their own what makes a game good; not release flawed games, wait for player feedback, release another game based on that feedback, and rinse and repeat until they get it right. They're video games, not operating systems.
If MW3 was the last game in the COD franchise, I would be content. From what I've seen, everything good about the past games has returned, and the bad things are gone. It's not my favorite series, but it's solid.

I don't think I've seen a single positive comment about a game from him. He probably doesn't even praise his mom's nipples, ungrateful bastard

A game is as good as the player makes it. I like the game well enough to give it a B+ so that's all that matters. I think that most of us here who do play it (all of about 10 of us at most) would give a similar grade. So please, go away now.
